Life Hack: Eat Liver and FEEL AMAZING!

Why Eat Liver?

Liver is definitely one of The Cool Carnivore’s favorite foods. Beef liver, chicken liver, pig liver, cod liver, I love it all. It should be a staple in the diet of every human on God’s green Earth. Why? Because it is a nutrient-dense SUPERFOOD.

Let’s take a look at the nutritional information for 100g of calf and chicken liver. (These two livers are comparable in nutrients)

Benefits of Vitamin A

Why should you want a lot of vitamin A? Well, Vitamin A is actually a group of organic compounds that have a wide variety of health benefits. Some of these compounds are retinol, retinal, retinoic acid, and beta-carotene. As a group, Vitamin A is important for growth and development, vision, and maintenance of the immune system.

When retinal combines with the protein “opsin” in the retina, the light-absorbing molecule “rhodopsin” is formed. This molecule is required for color and low-light vision. Now this sounds crazy, but many carnivores have reported bouts of “LSD vision” after adopting an all-meat diet. There are many anecdotes of the carnivore diet providing an improvement in eyesight. I believe that the tremendous Vitamin A content that certain organ meats provide is the explanation for this phenomenon.

Carrots (another “food” noted for vision enhancement abilities) gets its orange pigment from two connected retinyl groups, which are used in the body to add to Vitamin A levels. It all makes sense! Unfortunately, carrots are starchy vegetables filled with sugar. Eat liver instead!

Vitamin A’s vital role in immune system function is mainly in the proliferation of T cells, the cells that control your body’s immune response. T cells are even able to KILL virus-infected cells AND cancer cells directly. With increased Vitamin A intake, you are helping defend against cancer growth!

Some other important functions of Vitamin A are gene transcription, embryonic development and reproduction, and the maintenance of skin and cell health.

Liver is so high in Vitamin A that it can KILL you if you eat the wrong animal. There have been a few cases of death due to the consumption of polar bear liver, walrus liver, seal liver, moose liver, and huskie liver. Because you likely aren’t eating any of those, you’ll be fine. Even the Inuit doesn’t eat polar bear liver because about a pound of it is enough to kill you.

Beef Liver – The God-tier Superfood

While all liver is good for you, beef liver is RIDICULOUS. Did you know that one 3.5 oz serving of beef liver has 3,460% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is extremely vital to maximize your health. It is the largest and most structurally complex vitamin of all! Fun fact: there are no vegetable sources of this vitamin, so vegans need to take a supplement or face irreversible brain damage! Maybe that is why so many of them lack basic reasoning skills!

B12 is required for DNA synthesis, as well as for the metabolism of EVERY cell in your body! This includes fatty acid metabolism, which us carnivores need dearly because we love our dear fat! It also synthesizes myelin, which insulates nerve cell axons to increase the speed at which information travels from one nerve cell body to another. In other words, we need B12 for a functioning nervous system.

We can’t forget that the same 3.5 oz serving of beef liver provides 1620% the recommended daily intake of copper. Copper is required to activate a large number of enzymes, which helps regulate energy production, metabolism, and brain function. It also is needed for sperm AND egg production in males and females alike! Wowzers!

Liver Protein Benefits

Another reason why liver is freakin’ rad is that over one-quarter of it is made up of protein! Not only that, but it is a super-high quality protein that provides ALL of the essential amino acids! Only some of the amino acids – the building blocks that makeup proteins – can be produced by our bodies. The rest needs to come from food. It’s gnarly that liver gives us all the ones we need!

Why should you want high protein consumption? For one, it helps with weight loss because it reduces hunger. Some research says that it is more satiating than carbs, and even fat!

Protein also helps boost your metabolic rate, so your body uses more calories to function. This is good if you’re like me and tend to binge eat tasty grub.

We can’t forget about the obvious muscle-building benefit of protein. Ditch the overly-expensive protein shakes and powders, eat a beef liver and call it good!

If you want to cut weight, liver is the PERFECT food. This is because it is less calorie-dense than muscle meats. The same serving size we’ve discussed, 3.5 oz, is over 200 calories if that 3.5 oz is from a sirloin steak. The same serving size is 175 calories if the 3.5 oz are from liver. Not only are we eating fewer calories, we are also eating way more nutrients! The high protein has also been proven to help retain muscle mass when fat loss is occurring.

So you’re convinced now, right? Are you excited to take the next step in your liver-eating journey toward enlightenment? I got you.

How to Prepare Good-Tasting Liver

I have some bad news to break to you. For a lot of people, liver tastes like absolute shit. Many people can not bear it. These people are also known as PATHETIC. I will show you two methods for reducing the bitter liver taste, and how you can feel like a superhuman with little effort!

Method One: FREEZE IT, KIDDO!

Start off with your beef liver. Gaze into it’s majestic nature. When you get it out of the freezer, let it thaw at room temperature for around 45 minutes.

Break out the cutting board.

After it has thawed a bit, it should be easy to slice it up!

This first method will have you slice it up even further.

And one more time through:

You now have LIVER PILLS. Throw them in a sandwich bag and put them back in the freezer. When they are frozen, take the bag out and eat them like they are actual pills. Yes, you will be eating these raw. Yes, it is relatively safe. This is a great and efficient method if you want to avoid the taste that so many people hate.

If you want to cook your liver and have it taste good, this is what you do:

Take your sliced liver strips and put them in a sandwich bag.

Pour whole milk in the sandwich bag and allow the liver to SOAK. No, it doesn’t have to be whole milk, but why would you ever own milk other than whole milk?

I recommend soaking your liver for a minimum of two hours. I usually leave it in the fridge for an entire day.

After soaking, melt some butter in a pan over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, you’re gonna want to sear each side of your liver strip for about 45 seconds. Do NOT overcook the liver. This will ruin it.

As always, season with kosher salt and black pepper. Enjoy, because liver prepared this way tastes BOMB. This is because liver is the BOMB DOT ORG.
